Memoir/Writing Consultant and Editor

HappySad: Getting Over the One That Got Away is a self published memoir that chronicles one man’s struggle with addiction and depression, the resulting loss of the love of his life and the steps he took to finally be honest with himself about what happened. Blurbed by Elin Hilderbrand, HappySad has sold over 15,000 copies and counting. Brendan came to me with a complete, but rough draft. We worked together for over 18 months to re-write, re-organize, and re-conceptualize his projects.

Research writing/Lead Author

“In Pursuit of Equity: a Quantitative Examination of Student Experiences Within a Labor Based Grading Ecology” was published in College English, a flagship peer-reviewed journal. I was the lead author on this project which means that in addition to contributing to the research and the writing, I organized the team and the writing process. The findings in our study fill the data gap left behind by the initial reports on contract grading in composition studies.

Young Adult Novel/Editor

Tales of the Boston Harbor is a thoroughly researched young adult chapter book in the spirit of the Magic Tree House Series. It features the author’s children as the main characters and doubles as a family legacy piece. The novel had been sitting in a drawer for years and when the author decided it was finally time to finish her project, I helped her edit the novel and get the document in shape for self-publishing.

College Application Essays/Writing Consultant and Editor

I have a demonstrated track record working with students on college essays and applications with a 100% success rate of target college acceptance. College essays seem straightforward, but they’re rhetorically tricky, demanding attention to unasked questions.
